Baby steps

I’ve reached one of my milestones. I’ve got my first 10 pictures accepted to my iStock portfolio. I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

For all of you still starting out from square one. Don’t get discouraged by the high number of rejections you might receive. They will school your eye and sharpen your skills. But here is the killer tip: dont’ take the rejections personally.

Nobody is criticizing you or your art per se. They are just trying to uphold a certain standard throughout the site. Embrace the constraints and high standards to motivate you to make even greater images.

I haven’t selected my next milestone just yet. I want to get up to at least 100 images accepted this year. I’m not setting any milestones on downloads. I’m want a portfolio I’m very happy with first, if that makes sense. I have a very harsh mixture currently and want to specialize a bit on a certain discipline.
